The prinipal source of lead in urban atmo pheres is beliveed to be combustion of gasoline containing antiknock additives in the form of lead alkyls.
This survey was carried out to find the amount of atmospheric lead in Seoul by location and time. The results obtained are as follows;
1. The highest value of 12.33 §¶/§© was indicated at Eulchiro rotary and the lowest value of 1.24 §¶/§© was indicated at Kyungundong.
The traffic volume of 8,307 vehicles/hr at Eulchiro rotary was the heaviest value in Seoul. Therefore, it was found that the level of lead concentration in air was deeply associated with the traffic volume.
2. The higher values of atmospheric lead concentrateion was determined during the rush hours of 9:00¡10:00 and 17:00¡18:00 .
3. Climatic factors did not show any significant correlation with the atmospheric lead concentration in Seoul during this short period of survey.
